SAVE the date! Our celebration of Rosemary's life will be Sunday, June 23.
It has been a very challenging time for us as we strive to get used to life without Rose. It’s still a bit of a shock to us that she is gone, and on most days we three find ourselves contemplating with great sadness the void that she has left behind.
But we’ve also had a lot of laughter together; old stories and new ones have been told and re-told, and that’s helping us to get through.
More to the point, all the good wishes and anecdotes you and others have sent along have meant the world to us. We are hearing from people all over the map! The Park days, the Baylor days (!), Center Stage and Everyman and folks from The Sun, and family gatherings, and all the rest. It’s a tremendous comfort to know how many lives our mother touched, and the kind words you have passed our way have truly lifted our spirits.
Rosemary could be sentimental with the best of them, but right now she would be telling us to get on with it! So we will:
We will be holding a celebration of Rosemary’s life on Sunday, June 23. The celebration will take place at the American Visionary Art Museum in downtown Baltimore. Please save the date and join us if you can.
There are many more details to come, including the form and structure of the celebration. But in the interim, please know that in the coming weeks:
we will be asking for any photos of Rosemary you’d like to send, and will set up a mechanism for you to share them with us;
similarly, we’ll ask you to share any anecdotes, stories, raunchy jokes she told you, ways she affected you, etc. etc. ;
In a few weeks we will ask for a “soft” RSVP to get an idea of numbers, and closer to the date we’ll ask for a more committed answer so we can plan appropriately;
we’ve had a number of requests about whether we can livestream the proceedings for those who can’t attend the celebration in person; we will look into this;
if you would like to personally be involved in the celebration (e.g., contribute a reading, a song, a poem, or a bawdy dance), please email us directly at rosemary.celebration@icloud.com
you can also reach any of us individually at our email addresses below.
That’s all for now, but keep watching this space. And again, thanks to you all for your ongoing support. Please feel free to forward this email to anyone you know who might want to help us remember and celebrate Rosemary.
